One of the most revered Japanese fountain pen makers “Pilot Namiki” has been around since 1930s. The Urushi #50 fountain pen or also known as the emperor size Urushi pen has been around since then. They are built with a unique ink filling system, that has a shut-off valve to prevent accidental ink leakages. To write with the pen and for a continuous flow of ink, one is required to unscrew the piston a bit so that the valve that blocks the movement of ink to the feeder is moved just enough to let the ink flow. The #50 Namiki fountain pens are coated with many multiple layers of oilless Urushi lacquer over the uppermost lacquer coat to attain the Roiro Urushi lacquer finish, that’s so deep and intense to look at. Available in brilliant deep black Urushi and the Vermillion Red Urushi lacquer colors. Both these colors are a beauty to look at and hold. The simple cigar-shaped model with a stunning gold clip speaks volumes about the Japanese way of Life – Simple and meaningful.
